Boys' volleyball all-stars

First team

Athlete of the Year: Nate Kane, Bethlehem


Devin Sandmann, Sr., Burnt Hills: A Suburban Council all-star who was the core of the Spartans offense.

Kevin Mahar, Jr., Bethlehem: Provided a team-high 465 assists to the Eagles high-powered hitters.

Middle blocker

John Sica, So., Bethlehem: Led the Eagles in kills, blocks and hitting efficiency in his first year as a starter.


Josh Olsen, Sr., Shenendehowa: Earned Suburban all-star accolades and helped the Plainsmen earn a spot in the sectional final for a second straight season.

Jon Weaver, Sr., Burnt Hills: Suburban all-star who helped the Spartans to a third-place showing in the league.

Austin Jensen, Sr., Shenendehowa: Another key piece of the Plainsmen's offense who will be missed in 2013.


Howell Morris, Sr., Bethlehem: Led the team in digs with 212 and was second in serve-receive percentage.

Second team

Setters: Tyler Ostrowski, Sr., Shenendehowa; Jake Dube, Sr., Guilderland.

Middle blocker: Drew Haughey, Jr., Burnt Hills.

Hitters: Aaron Carrk, Fr., Bethlehem; Jordan Whittemore, Sr., Niskayuna.

Libero: Aidan Cawley, Sr., Burnt Hills.

Coach of the Year

Rick Arket, Bethlehem: Despite graduating all six starters from 2011, Arket coached the Eagles to a perfect 18-0 record in league play and their third sectional title in a row.
